PHYSIOTHERAPY
What to Expect
We know coming in for an assessment and starting a physiotherapy journey can sometimes seem a little daunting, especially for children and young people. We thought we would put you and your child at ease by letting you know exactly what is going to happen throughout the process.
QUESTIONs
At the initial appointment, your physiotherapist will ask you questions regarding your child's condition/concern, their general health and any medications they are currently taking. During this informal chat they will also discuss the activities and hobbies your child regularly participates in
IDENTIFICATION
The physiotherapist will explain their findings. They will then discuss, develop and demonstrate treatment options collaboratively with you
ASSESSMENT
The physiotherapist will use this information to focus your child's assessment and treatment. Their assessment will include a review of the area of concern, an assessment of their movement and a test of their strength, stability and balance. They may be asked to walk, run and jump
Treatment
Your child will receive an individualised physiotherapy treatment plan based on their needs, which your physiotherapist will help implement and review
